Social media and dodgy email accounts.

Social media and dodgy email accounts.

I’m always impressed by the number of people who still do not see a value in social media or have their business name @ freeEmail .com.

In my opinion your email address says who you are and if you are portraying yourself as a “business” then you should have an email address that resembles your website name. For example if your business was Business Radio and you have a website called businessradio.co.uk then it would be expected that you have an email address @businessradio.co.uk and not This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. nor google or any other dodgy free email service.

I am sure that you would have seen the many vans and business cards with the business names @yahoo.co.uk? To me this says “I have no idea how important this is” and if people really don’t understand the value of a business email address how can they honestly know about their business? If they were to mix with other businesses they would see that these other businesses have email addresses at their business name which should have alerted them!

If you are a new business, bin your free email account and pay £3 per month for a proper email address.

An email address at your company name .com/co.uk shows people that you are serious about your business or at the very least it won’t raise an eyebrow when you give your business card to someone.

If you feel that £3 per month is too much or perhaps that your business can afford it then consider giving up your business and get a job, you’ll be doing yourself a favour :-)

Dodgy email accounts

Social media plays a big part in our everyday life. As yet it is not a human right to have Facebook but it wouldn’t surprise me if one day there was some sort of social media that we couldn’t do without.
Many people use Facebook but very few use Twitter ad for business Twitter is a great tool. With Twitter you can instantly tell people where you are and what you are doing.

We’ve been using Twitter for about a year and our business has grown because we are able to communicate with our listeners and followers instantly.

I’m nor suggesting that what is good for us is good for everyone else but I am suggesting that as a business you should be using these tools instead of complaining that you;re not doing enough business :-)

Here endeth the rant!
